About Receipt Scanner Free
Receipt Scanner Free started from a simple frustration: every receipt scanner app worth using seemed to want an account, a subscription, and a copy of years of spending history on someone else's server, just to read a total off a piece of paper. This project is the opposite bet — a receipt scanner that runs the OCR itself, in your browser, and only asks for the receipt image when you explicitly choose a heavier AI-powered scan.
What we're building
A fast, free receipt scanner app for anyone who wants to turn paper receipts into an organized, exportable expense record — freelancers doing their own books, small business owners reconciling purchases, and people who just want to stop losing receipts. No onboarding flow, no forced signup, no paywall between you and the scan button.
Why on-device by default
Most receipt scanner software treats "upload to the cloud" as the only option. We think local-first should be the default and cloud processing should be the exception you opt into, not the other way around. That's why the free scan runs entirely on-device, and the Advanced AI scan is a deliberate, visible choice rather than something that happens automatically in the background.
Where this is headed
This is an independently run, actively developed project rather than a company with a roadmap deck. Features get added when they solve a real problem for people actually scanning receipts with it. If something is missing or broken, the contact page is the fastest way to reach us.
